How can I be certain my purchase is authentic.Victoria Station is a national business with stores in most capital cities. We have a loyal following and a reputation to uphold. All handbags, wallets, luggage, backpacks etc are genuine branded goods sourced from authorised Australian distributors we do not sell replica handbags, or any other replica products. How do I care for my handbagA handbag is best used to carry personal items Avoid overloading your handbag, this can cause your bag to go out of shape, and may even void the warranty if the bag is excessively weighted. Leather look, PU (polyurethane) and classic nylon Wipe down with a damp cloth, and immediately dry off with another dry cloth. This prevents watermarks from drying onto the material. If the item is very dirty or has stains on it, use a touch of mild soap on a damp cloth. Wipe any soap residue off with a clean damp cloth and then dry with a separate dry cloth to prevent water stains. Avoid solvents or chemicals as they can damage, distort or discolour your bag. Leather If leather becomes dirty, wipe with a slightly damp cloth. A mild leather cream can be occasionally used to clean and enrich the leather. Use of chemicals and solvents is not recommended on leather products. Fabric If dirt has accumulated on a fabric bag, attempt to dust or brush the surface with a dry soft brush. (Never brush anything that is wet, wait for it to dry first). In some instances you may need to wipe a stain or stubborn dirt from the surface. We recommend you use a damp cloth however you must test an inconspicuous area first, as there is a risk of discolouration. If unsure take your bag to a dry cleaning specialist who will advise you. Luggage My luggage got wet, what now? Modern luggage is manufactured mostly from nylon based materials as well as certain plastics. Unless advertised, most luggage contrary to popular belief is NOT waterproof. Nylon is effectively made of thousands of nylon fibres interwoven into a mesh. This mesh is porous, and although marginally water resistant, it is not water proof. Plastic and PU suitcases have waterproof materials however immersing these, won’t stop water entering through the locks, hinges etc What are all these materials that I see? What is EVA foam or padding Ethylene vinyl acetate (Sometimes known as acetate) EVA foam is a soft foam used as padding in various equipment including luggage, backpacks and other travelgoods. It is highly elastic, a good shock absorber, and has little or no odour Denier is a unit of measurement of density of textile fibre mass. It is used to indicate the strength (density) of a material such as Polyester and nylon. A denier represents the size or number of filament or yarn, so the higher the denier the stronger the material. So a 600 denier Nylon fabric is stronger than a 400 denier nylon fabric. The word “Denier” is often used in its abbreviated form e.g. 400D. Be mindful when you are comparing denier, ensure it is like for like with the same fabric i.e. nylon with nylon. A 400D Nylon Fabric is stronger than a 600D polyester fabric so be wary of this What is ABS plastic Acrylonitrile butadiene styrene, or ABS, is a plastic used to make light moulded products. Some Samsonite and Antler suitcases are molded from ABS plastic What is PU PU stands for Polyurethane. PU is a leading member of the highly diverse plastics family. many of Victoria Station’s handbags, purses and other products are made of PU What is PVC PVC is a plastic polymer with a glossy look (Poly vinyl chloride – PVC) What is ballistic nylon Despite its name ballistic nylon is NOT bullet proof material. It was designed to repel certain flying debris and shrapnel by the Dupont company in the 1940’s (it wasn’t as successful as planned), however it is extremely tough and robust material thus making it ideally suited to soft side luggage, backpacks etc What is Kevlar Kevlar is a product of the Du Pont company. It is an extremely strong material, the strength derived from the weave. The weave here is woven like tiny spider webs, and in some instances Kevlar is used in bullet proof vests. Kevlar is relatively expensive and may be found in some high end products in the travel goods and luggage industry. It’s hype is a good sales feature for the item.
